December 23, 2017 – Katie Doran, a 2nd year Chemical Biology Honours student at McMaster University, as accepted our offer as a RISE scholar for the upcoming summer research season.  

December 8, 2017 
– Melissa's recent RISE work has been accepted for publication in Can. J. Chem. (an invited article commemorating the 200th anniversary of Dalhousie University).  Congrats, Mel!

December 3, 2017 – Oliver and Qianwen receive their X-rings.  Bry also receives his X-ring (again!) as a MSc Candidate.  Congrats to all Tapley Lab Members!

November 26, 2017 
– Chris Yourth joins our group as a 6-month research assistant under the industrial collaboration with Genair8.  Welcome, Chris!

November 15, 2017 – We receive word from our Dean of Science that our collaborator, Dr. José Carlos Netto-Ferreira (INMETRO, Brazil) has been awarded a visiting James Chair Research Professor and will come work with us from June –August 2018!

November 2017 – Research Nova Scotia as approved matching funds to our recently successful CFI-JELF.  Let the purchasing begin 😀

October 25, 2017 – We received word our continued collaboration with Genair8 was funded by Innovocorp Inc. (a provincial funding body) and a Productivity and Innovation (P&I) Tier II Voucher.

October 2018 – Our recent submission to Catal. Sci. Technol. (Exploiting the photocatalytic activity of gold-nanoparticle-functionalized niobium oxide perovskites in nitroarene reductions) is accepted for publication!  Congrats to everyone who worked so hard the inaugural publication from our group!!

August 17 - 19, 2018 –  Melissa and Geniece hosted the annual RISE Summer Symposium, along with Dr. Brian Wagner of UPEI.  The symposium was a great success with our Maritime hospitality on full display.  Melissa presented a 20 minute oral presentation on her summer work entitled "Design and Applications of AuNP/Potassium Niobium Oxide Composites in Visible Light Induced Alcohol Oxidations."

June 20, 2017
 – Qianwen joins the group to being research towards her BSc Honours. Welcome Qianwen!  Qianwen was also this year's co-recipient of the J.C. Cunningham Memorial Research Scholarship.  Congrats

June 2018 – We received word that our recent CFI-JELF grant was approved!  This will allow us to purchase a new GC-MS, upgrade our current HPLC-MS and acquire several, state of the art light sources for use in our photocatalytic work.

May 28 - June 1, 2017 – Bry and Oliver travel to Toronto and attend the 100th CSC Conference and Exhibition.  Oliver and Bry presented a poster entitled: "Photocatalytic Applications of Niobium Oxide Perovskites" and Bry presented an oral presentation entitled: "Photocatalytic Application of Perovskites/Nanoparticle Composites in C-C Bond Formation".  They both also checked out the great attractions of TO (including many Blue Jays games). Great work, guys! 

May 10, 2017 – Oliver joins the group as our newest BSc Honours student.  Welcome Oliver!

May 7, 2017 – Taylor officially graduates from StFX with her BScH in Chemistry in the Spring Convocation ceremony!  All the best in the future, Tay!

 – Bry has his oral presentation abstract accepted for the upcoming 100th CSC in Toronto, ON.  Geniece also has a poster abstract accepted for presentation.

 – Taylor accepts an offer to attend UQAM and the group of Dr. Mathieu Frenette towards the completion of her MSc.  We wish her all the best!

– Pierre-Michel attended the 2016 RISE symposium at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB and presented a seminar on his summer research.  He then returned to UQAM to continue his studies.  We wish him all the best!

June 5, 2016 – Geniece is nominated as ScienceAtlantic Tour Speaker for CIC Maritime Division for the upcoming academic year!

June 5-9, 2016 – Taylor, Bry and Geniece attended the 99th CSC conference in Halifax.  Both Taylor and Bry presented posters and Geniece gave a talk based on former honour student, Emily Piggott's, thesis research. 

May 24, 2016 – We received work that we were awarded an NRC-IRAP federal grant to aide in our collaborative partnership with Genair8!!!

May 16, 2016 – Patrick Aquino has joined our lab towards the completion of his co-op term at University of Waterloo.  Patrick will be working along side a local industrial partner, Genair8 Technologies, on the design of novel sustainable energy systems.

May 9, 2016 – Pierre-Michel Jalbert joins our group as our first RISE scholar and Bry begins his term as a summer research assistant.

May 4, 2016 – Taylor begins work in the lab towards the completion of her Honours.

October 10, 2015 – Geniece is invited to join the Reactive Intermediate Student Exchange program.  This program links faculty throughout Canada with the common interests of photochemistry and photophysics.  This program provides an opportunity for students from participating institutions to undertake student exchange over the summer research months.

September 2015 – Bry Crabbe joins the lab as an Advanced Majors research student.  Welcome Bry!

June 13-17, 2015 – Emily and Geniece travel to Ottawa to attend the 98th CSC Conference and Exhibition.  Emily presented a poster entitled “The Development and Applications of AuNP@RNbO3 Photocatalysts” authored by Emily, Taylor, Jue and Geniece.

April 2015 – The Tapley lab is awarded a summer research grant from the StFX University Research Council.

April 2015 – The Tapley lab is awarded their first external grant, an NSERC Discovery, for 5 years! Hopefully the first of many!!
